In April 2024, we held a public vote to name an RFDS plane to celebrate Brisbane Airport's 15 years of partnership with Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section).
RFDS aircraft VH-FDS was named Drover after the first purpose-built RFDS aeromedical aircraft back in the late 1940s. Now, specialised aircraft like the KingAir B200 Drover continue to transfer critically ill patients from across regional, rural and remote parts of Queensland to Brisbane's world-class hospitals and medical specialists. When this aircraft is in the air, you can track its progress on Flight Radar below.
Brisbane Airport is proud to partner in the life-saving work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service here in Queensland, specifically contributing towards the aeromedical fit-out of aircraft and helping to purchase medical equipment for this vital service.
